Techno

Techno is a genre of electronic dance music focused on rhythm, repetition, and energy. It’s built around a steady four-on-the-floor beat, usually between 120 and 150 BPM, and often uses deep bass and mechanical grooves.

Techno tracks are made mostly with drum machines, synthesizers, and sequencers. Vocals are rare because the focus is on movement, not lyrics. Classic instruments like the Roland TR-808 and TR-909 helped define the sound and remain iconic today.

The genre started in Detroit during the 1980s, led by artists like Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson, known as the Belleville Three. It later grew into a worldwide scene, especially in Berlin, where it shaped the underground club culture still alive today.

Techno comes in many styles such as acid, industrial, melodic, and hard techno, but all share the same idea: music made for movement.
