Belgian DJ Amelie Lens has shared a deeply personal story with her fans, revealing that she has experienced two miscarriages — one before the birth of her daughter Kiki, and one just last week.

She began her post with a statistic that shocked her: "One in five pregnancies ends in miscarriage. I did not know that. Nobody told me."

Amelie recalled her first miscarriage, which happened before Kiki was born. It occurred while she was on a flight to India. Despite visiting two hospitals in Delhi, she still went ahead and played her show that night on painkillers. "The moment I found out I was pregnant, I felt like a mom. You start dreaming about this little human, make space in your heart, your future changes. And suddenly you are mourning a baby no one else even knew was coming."

A few weeks ago, she discovered she was pregnant again. Last week, she lost some blood but an ultrasound still showed a heartbeat, though it was slow. "I was afraid but there was still hope," she wrote. Sadly, her latest scan revealed there was no longer a heartbeat. She was two months into the pregnancy.

Amelie shared her gratitude for her healthy daughter Kiki, but also the isolation of going through loss when no one even knows you’re pregnant. "I wish it was normal to say it out loud. That if someone asked ‘how are you?’ I could have said ‘not well, I might lose my baby’ but instead, I smiled and said ‘fine.’"

She emphasized that she isn’t sharing her experience for sympathy but to let other women and couples know they are not alone. "Miscarriage is invisible grief. And when people ask ‘why?’ it makes us feel like it is something we did. But most of the time there is no why."

Amelie explained that her body has not yet started the physical process, so she will be going through a medical procedure in the coming days. Despite the pain, she plans to continue her shows this week. "Music heals me and there is no place I would rather be than in my DJ booth, with my husband by my side."
