Belgian DJ and producer Sam Deliaert, better known as Farrago, has officially announced that he is quitting DJing and touring. Farrago, who is married to internationally renowned techno artist Amelie Lens, shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram post after being away from social media and the stage for a long period.

In his statement, he explained that this decision had been on his mind for years. During the first year of COVID lockdowns, he suffered a stroke, an experience that made him rethink his lifestyle and question whether constant touring was worth the toll it took.

When he and Amelie became parents to their daughter Kiki, those doubts only grew stronger. Both artists were away from home frequently during her first year, something Farrago described as “really hard on us.”

“After Kiki was born, the thought of quitting never left my mind. I realised I became a DJ because I wanted to make music and share it with people. Touring every weekend was never the dream.”

Farrago said he sometimes misses playing but has no regrets, adding that he is now “happier than before.” He thanked the hundreds of thousands of fans who came to see him play, describing their support as one of the most meaningful parts of his career.

The announcement follows a deeply personal moment for Amelie Lens, who recently shared that she had experienced two miscarriages, one before Kiki was born and another more recently. Her openness about the hidden grief many women face resonated with fans worldwide and highlighted the emotional weight carried by the couple behind the decks.

Together, their honesty offers fans a rare glimpse into the challenges of balancing family life with the relentless demands of global touring. Farrago’s decision underscores a growing conversation in the electronic music world about mental health, burnout, and the human cost of staying on the road.

Although Farrago is stepping away from touring, he is not leaving creativity behind. He revealed that he has been writing a book and collaborating on a video game project, describing this new chapter as giving him “a fresh sense of purpose.”

Whether he will ever return to DJing remains uncertain. “I do think I would enjoy DJing more as a hobby than as an actual job,” he wrote. For now, Farrago is choosing family and creative freedom over the road, closing one chapter while opening another.
