Richie Hawtin is curating a MINUS+ night at FVTVR in Paris as part of a 24-hour programme with Irish artist John Gerrard during Art Basel Paris. Hawtin, Matador, Courtesy, Kristin Velvet and Reece Pritchard are set to play from midnight to noon, and tickets for that overnight section are available through Shotgun.
The full programme runs from noon on Saturday, October 24, to noon on Sunday, October 25, and forms part of the Reference Festival. FVTVR is at 34 Quai d’Austerlitz in Paris’s 13th arrondissement. Before the club programme starts, Hawtin and Gerrard will take part in a one-hour conversation moderated by Marc Spiegler, and Gerrard’s infin.1.iridescent.stream will run from 12pm to midnight. The Saturday conversation and exhibition are free to attend.
The installation follows a D’Albertis python moving through a digital world. Every hour, the snake traces a figure of eight until it forms a snake biting its own tail. The work unfolds across a full solar year and uses an original Plastikman composition that is continuously recomposed through Bronze.ai.
The overnight programme also features Gerrard’s SPIRITS as both an installation and a live performance with Anastasia Giovani. The piece was originally commissioned by the Art + Technology Lab at LACMA and began with 96 plastic shoes and sandals gathered from the shores of the Pacific, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and Atlantic, then digitally reconstructed into shifting sculptural forms.
