Is Tale of Us Breaking Up? Afterlife, Solo Careers, and What Happens Next

Rumors are spreading that Tale of Us may be ending, as Carmine Conte (MRAK) and Matteo Milleri (Anyma) seem to be going separate ways. Sources close to Ibiza’s club scene say the two are no longer as close as before and are now focusing on their solo careers.

There has been no official statement, but fans have noticed major changes in their music, events, and festival appearances. Could this be the end of Tale of Us as a duo?

Are They Going Solo?

Both artists are focusing more on their own projects. Anyma is pushing his Sphere live shows, moving into the bigger festival scene with high-tech visuals and large-scale productions. MRAK is expected to take Afterlife back to its underground roots, making the music the main focus again.

Adding to the speculation, Anyma is performing solo at festivals like Sziget 2025, while Tale of Us is missing from major festival lineups. Afterlife also has no announced events after Tulum, which is unusual since they normally reveal their schedules months in advance.

Changes in Afterlife and Ibiza Residency

Sources say that Afterlife will no longer focus on massive visual productions, with End of Genesys being the last big visual show. Future events are expected to bring the focus back to the music, without the overwhelming LED screens and effects.

There are also strong rumors that Afterlife will not return to Hï Ibiza in 2025, and that Joseph Capriati’s Metamorphosis residency may take its place. Another big change is that Afterlife Barcelona, one of their most important events, has no dates for 2025. Some believe this could be because Afterlife was sold to Interscope Records, but nothing has been confirmed.

At the same time, Tale of Us is rumored to return to Circoloco at DC10 in October, which could mean they are shifting back to their underground roots.

Fans Have Noticed a Change

Many longtime fans have pointed out that Tale of Us is not the same anymore. Their sets have gotten shorter and less unique. At Afterlife Tulum 2024, Tale of Us played for only two hours, with almost the same set on both nights. In 2022, their Tulum set lasted from 4:30 AM to 1 PM, giving fans a much deeper experience.

This change has been seen at other Afterlife events too. At Brooklyn Mirage 2022, their set ended at 6 AM, much earlier than their pre-pandemic performances that lasted until 11 AM or later.

Some fans believe Tale of Us lost their underground energy years ago, and their move toward bigger mainstream shows changed the essence of their music.

What Comes Next?

Nothing is confirmed yet, but all signs point to big changes. If they do split, Anyma will continue as a solo headliner, while MRAK may reshape Afterlife into something more underground.

For many fans, Tale of Us is already a thing of the past. The only question now is whether they will officially announce the split or quietly go their own way. Either way, their influence on electronic music is undeniable.
