Technics announces SL-1210MKX DJ turntable with wider pitch control

Technics has announced the SL-1210MKX, a new direct-drive DJ turntable in its long-running SL-1200 series. It showed the deck at Pacific in Amsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event, and says it will go on sale in January 2027 for €1,499 or £1,299.

Technics calls the SL-1210MKX the new flagship model in the range. The company says it developed the deck with input from DJs and sound engineers, aiming for steadier playback and more precise pitch control in clubs and other live settings.

Most of the changes focus on mixing. Technics says this is the first SL-1200 series deck to add a dedicated ±4% pitch range for smaller tempo adjustments and beatmatching, alongside a new ±50% option for bigger jumps. The company also says the SL-1210MKX has a heavier, more evenly balanced chassis to better handle outside vibration, plus redesigned isolation feet to help reduce feedback and keep the turntable steady.

The spec list also includes a quieter reset switch, a coreless direct-drive motor, adjustable start-up torque and brake speed, 78 rpm playback and reverse play. The turntable comes in black with a polished silver tonearm. Technics says the launch marks 55 years of the SL-1200 series. Earlier this year, the company announced a limited anniversary run of SL-1200 turntables with engraved badges, gold details and a custom slipmat, and also unveiled the SL-1200M7ALD collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore.
